Work it Out is an education and exercise program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are at risk of having, or have been diagnosed with, a chronic disease.

The program is delivered by a team of allied health professionals, working together to support each client’s health journey through chronic disease self-management and rehabilitation.

Each Work It Out session is made up of:

  • group education or yarning session to learn about health and wellness
  • individually tailored and supervised exercise in a supportive group setting

By participating in the program, clients may see improvements in:

  • confidence in managing their health and wellness
  • cardiovascular fitness
  • balance and movement in day to day tasks
  • mental health and wellbeing

Eligibility

To be eligible, clients must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander who are at risk of having, or have been diagnosed with, a chronic disease.

Accessing the service

To access the service, clients must have a referral from their GP. Call your local Kalwun health clinic to arrange an appointment with your GP.
