Have your say on matters that impact the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community on the Gold Coast.
Four times a year, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, carers, community members and local service providers come together to help shape the health and wellbeing of our mob in the Gold Coast region.
The Karulbo Yarning Circle sessions are hosted by the Karulbo Committee, which is made up of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and service providers, and works in partnership with Kalwun, Gold Coast Heath and Krurungal.
Karulbo is a Yugambeh word meaning “All Together” and that’s what these sessions are all about. It’s about creating a safe and inclusive space where our Elders and community members feel like their voices are heard.
It’s also an opportunity for service providers to update our Elders and community members on new and current programs available to our mob within the Gold Coast region.
2026 Karulbo Yarning Circle dates:
- Friday, 20th February
- Friday, 15th May
- Friday, 14th August
- Friday, 13th November
We encourage everyone to join the yarning circles and have your say on matters that affect our mob in a culturally safe, informal and supportive environment.
Tea, coffee and morning tea are provided, so for catering purposes make sure to RSVP your attendance at least one week prior.

Community Health Initiatives Fund
The Karulbo Committee offers a grant to the Gold Coast community called the Community Health Initiatives Fund.
The purpose of this grant is to help fund projects in community that aim to create positive and lasting health and wellbeing benefits to the Gold Coast Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Community groups can apply for up to $2000 to deliver projects that demonstrate lasting benefits for our community.
The Committee has previously supported:
- Biren Cultural Group - to host a Corroboree.
- Ginibi Dancers - purchasing resources and materials for female dance group.
- SEQ Magic Women's Rugby League Team - purchasing training equipment.
