Calling All Families in Our Community: Be Part of the Kalwun Photo Library
Kalwun is creating a new photo library featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families from our community, and we'd love you to be part of it.
We're looking for local families who would be interested in participating in a professional photoshoot that will help us tell our stories in a genuine, respectful and authentic way.
The images captured will be used across Kalwun's programs, services and communications including our website, social media channels, brochures, annual reports, promotional materials and articles.
Our goal is simple: to ensure the people featured in our communications genuinely reflect the families in our community we walk alongside every day.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families who reflect the diversity and strength of our community.
We know families come in many different forms and we’d love to hear from you all:
- Multi-generational families
- Single parent families
- Blended families
- Foster and kinship care families
- Grandparents raising grandchildren
- Same-sex parent families
- Young families with babies and toddlers
- Families with teenagers and young adults
- Extended family groups
- Families living with disability
- Large families and small families
All of these family structures are part of our community, and we want to honour that in our imagery.
Whether your family is made up of two people or ten, we want to celebrate the many ways family, culture, care and connection are expressed amongst mob.
How The Images May Be Used
The images may be used across Kalwun programs, services and communications, including:
- Family support services
- Early learning and parenting programs
- Youth programs
- School holiday activities
- Health and wellbeing initiatives
- Foster and kinship care services
- Family intervention services
- Community events and cultural activities
- Recruitment and workforce campaigns
- Organisational publications and annual reports
- General promotion of Kalwun services
Your Choice Matters
We understand that some participants may feel comfortable having their images used in some programs but not others.
As part of the consent process, you and your family will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns and indicate if you wish to opt out of having your images used in connection with specific services or programs.
As a Thank You
Families selected to participate in the photo shoot will receive a $50 gift voucher per family and a 5x7 framed family portrait (a photo of your choice) as a token of appreciation for you and your families time and contribution.

When Is This Happening?
Families must be available for an all-day shoot on Tuesday 27th October. The location of the shoot will be confirmed with the families once applications have been approved.
EOI submissions will close Friday 16th October by COB. We will be in contact with you shortly after submissions close.
