Kalwun GSFW 'Youth Options' |
This project aims to assist young people, particularly Indigenous, between 15 to 17 years of age from Nerang and the surrounding areas to effectively transition into full-time employment, further education or training or return to school.
Job preparation will include training and support in job search techniques, life-skills, computing, workplace literacy and numeracy and cultural awareness.
Accredited training will include a variety of “taste testers” such as communication skills, first aid, Responsible Service of Alcohol and Construction White Card.
Get Set for Work builds participants’ self-esteem and confidence and prepares young people for work by offering participants: - personal development and team-building activities
- help to improve their literacy and numeracy
- opportunities for work experience and hands-on development of vocational skills
- job preparation, resume writing and interview skills
- information about jobs and careers in the local area
- opportunities to move on to work, traineeships and apprenticeships or other training
- continued support after they’ve completed the program to help them stay in work, or finish training or further education.
