General OverviewKalwun Development Corporation has head office operations located at Nerang on the Gold Coast and provides service to the community of the immediate Gold Coast and surrounding region. Located in the Nerang Head Office of Kalwun is the Housing Program, the core function of the Company. Also located in Nerang is the Employment Assistance Program, Get Set for Work 'Youth Options' and the North Gold Coast Indigenous Family Support Officer. Kalwun conducts Aboriginal Cultural Tours. Cultural Development / Education are promoted through performances, workshops and information sessions with primary and secondary schools, universities and conferences. In addition to these core services, Kalwun Health Service operates from a purpose-designed facility in Miami. It caters for the primary health care needs of the community with 3 doctors and a dental service. It also runs specialised programs, developed and facilitated by Aboriginal Health Workers. Transport to and from the clinic may be available on request. Kalwun HACC (Home and Community Care) provide Aged Care services and are located at 118 Bonogin Road, Mudgeeraba. Our Motto Is: " THE WAY AHEAD " Our Name The name KALWUN comes from the Aboriginal name for the rainforest lyre-bird, a bird of deep significance for original inhabitants of the area. The bird still lives in the Gold Coast Hinterlands and National Parks.
